On Tuesday 16th February at approximately 9:30am an asymptomatic patient undergoing routine screening in one of our isolation rooms at Duddell Street had a positive rapid test for Covid-19. He had no contact with anyone other than the doctor and the nurse who attended him. He was conveyed by ambulance to a hospital for confirmatory testing. All protocols were followed and the Department of Health were notified.
Although the Department of Health did not require us to close the clinic, exercising an abundance of caution and following our own clinic protocols we decided to suspend the Central Health clinic today whilst we wait for the results of the government PCR test which we expect this afternoon.
In the meantime we are following our protocols on the assumption this is a confirmed case. The two staff members who had contact with the patient will be quarantining at home and we have started our own deep clean of the clinic. We are in close communication with the Department of Health and will be following their advice on the next steps.
If you have any urgent medical needs, please refer to our “Emergency contacts” web page and contact your usual doctor directly. Our Southside and Discovery Bay practices remains open and any urgent medications can be collected after contacting your doctor.
We will keep updating our website with any further news. For those who have appointments at Duddell Street tomorrow please check for further information on our website before attending.
